Frances R. Baker

Mrs. Frances R. Baker, 73, of Gloversville, passed away Friday evening, November 22, 2013, at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville, surrounded by her family.

Born on June 22, 1940, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Frances M. (Kolar) Ward.

Frances graduated from Madison Heights High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1959. She had proudly served her country for two years and seven months, until the birth of her first child.

Mrs. Baker was employed for over 27 years as a pharmacy coordinator for Nathan Littauer Hospital until her retirement in 2004.

Frances loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, casino trips, fishing, bowling and she was an avid Yankees fan.

She was married to her beloved husband, Richard F. Baker Sr., on April 22, 1961. The couple settled in Johnstown upon their discharge from the United States Air Force.

Besides her husband, Richard, Frances is survived by two children, Richard (Sarah Shane) Baker Jr. of Gloversville and Sandra (Daniel) Sperry of Clifton Park; grandchildren, Benjamin D. Sperry and Ryan J. Loucks; her brothers and sisters, Mike Snider, Judy Kotcher, Rose Sweden and Lou Rhodes, all of Michigan, James Snider of North Carolina and Thomas Snider of Virginia; her aunt, Rose Gucman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Private interment with full military honors will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y. at later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.
