Mr. Edmund F. Jablonski, age 91, longtime Gloversville resident, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Nathan Littauer Hospital. He had resided at the Wells House in Johnstown for the past two years.
He was born September 8, 1922, in Hagaman, the son of the late Julius and Gertrude Wanders Jablonski. He served his country faithfully from 1943 to 1945 during World War II in the Army in the European Theatre. He had worked at General Electric Company in Schenectady prior to the war. Following the war he owned and operated E & G Builders in Gloversville and Perth.
Mr. Jablonski was a member of North Main Street United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 137.
Edmund was married on June 10, 1943, to Edna Lathrop, who died October 16, 2001.
He is survived by three children, Sharon A. Pustolka (Michael) of Rotterdam, Ronald E. Jablonski (Carol) of Mayfield and Sheila D. Blowers of Gloversville; seven grandchildren, Michael L. Pustolka Jr., Lori Tasick, Brian Pustolka, Ronald J. Jablonski, Jennifer Cutler, Eric Blowers and Craig Blowers; three great-grandchildren, John Tasick Jr., Jack Tasick and Ryker Blowers. Several nieces, nephews and a cousin also survive.
He was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, Julius Jablonski, Hank Jablonski, Gertrude Kowalski, Josephine Bobinas, Hattie Traver, Francis "Pete" Jablonski and Raymond Jablonski.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating.
Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wells Nursing Home Inc., 201 W. Madison Ave., Johnstown, NY 12095.
