Edward J. ‘Ed’ Lee

Edward J. "Ed" Lee, 62, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 12:30 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013, at UnityPoint Health Methodist.

Ed was born on November 17, 1951, in Amsterdam, N.Y., to Edward L. and Patricia A. (Walker) Lee. He was preceded in death by his father. He married Melody K. Young on May 2, 1981, in Peoria. She survives.

He is also survived by his mother of Gloverville, N.Y.; two daughters, Laura (Kalvin) Kim of Streamwood, Ill., and Megan Lee of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Michael (Beverly) Lee and David Lee, both of Gloversville, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. He was very excited to know he was going to be a granddad.

Ed retired in 2008, after 33 years of dedicated service to Caterpillar. He began his career as a development engineer after graduating in 1974, from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago with a bachelor of science in metallurgical engineering. He had many positions in various business units in the Peoria area, as well as in Global Purchasing. In addition, he had assignments in Belgium and Sweden, and was technical manager for Forestry Products in Aurora. Most recently, he was the division manager leading the way on capacity planning.

Ed was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he was an usher and communion assistant.

He was a member of the Arrowhead Country Club, Delta Tau Delta, and a founding member of the Scratch & Sniff Golf League. He was also a past member of ASM International, formerly known as the American Society for Metals.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Salem Lutheran Church. Pastor Elise Rothfusz will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2013, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.
