Several Rams selected as Big 10 boys, girls soccer all-stars

The Amsterdam boys and girls soccer teams combined to place eight players on the recently announced Big 10 all-star team.

The Lady Rams had a total of six players earn all-star honors, while the boys had two players honored.

Amsterdam sophomore goalkeeper Cassandra Robataille was named Goalkeeper of the Year for the Lady Rams.

She was joined on the first team by sophomore defender Kaitlyn Devine and senior midfielder Monica Rouse.

Senior midfielder Catie Fedullo, junior forward Maddy Healy and sophomore forward Diana Constantine were named second-team all-stars for Amsterdam, which finished the season 11-5 overall and 6-2 in Big 10 play.

Catholic Central, which went 8-0 in Big 10 play and won the league title, had junior forward Madison Purcell named Big 10 Most Valuable Player.

The Crusaders also had sophomore midfielder Lauren Drake, senior midfielder Kelsey Moss and sophomore forward Alexis Riffelbach named first-team all-stars.

Also named first-team all-stars were Schenectady's Nyla Cortes, Albany's Mollie Kather, Troy's Jessica Schaeffer, Albany's Erica Sicat and Troy's Eliza Stewart.

In addition to their four first-team selections, Catholic Central also had junior defender Claire Chaisson, senior defender Breana Falmaier and senior defender Annette Volpe named second-team all-stars.

Also earning second-team honors were Schenectady's Nisa Cortes, Troy's Liss Gardner, Albany's Nina Rouse, Troy's Simone Steigler and Albany's Cara Waterson.

The Amsterdam boys team had two players selected to the recently announced Big 10 all-star team.

Jared Gallup was named to the first team for the Rams, while Andrew DiSalvi was named to the second team.

Amsterdam finished 8-7-2 overall and 5-6-1 in Big 10 play this season.

Albany's Erick Kwizera was named the Big 10's Most Valuable Player. Emmanuel Ishimwe, Jackson Leon and Ali Waleed were named first-team all-stars for the Falcons.

Also named first-team all-stars were LaSalle's Niall Coughlin, Troy's Adam Kaarstad, Christian Brothers Academy's Matt Crisafulli, Schenectady's Jhon Rojas, LaSalle's Ben Beaury and Catholic Central's Justin O'Brien.

Albany had Jaheem Lawitz and Khalid Holtzclaw named second-team all-stars, while Troy had Eric Sleicher, Sean Dory, Josh Rasmussen and Sam Addo named to the second team.

Also named second-team Big 10 all-stars were LaSalle's Chris Skiba, Catholic Central's Ricky Drake, CBA's Noah Keith, Schenectady's Zach Schellenger and LaSalle's Alexi Brosnihan.
