FONDA - Absentee votes did not affect the outcomes of the Montgomery County District 7 and District 2 legislator races.
After absentee ballots were tallied at the Montgomery County Board of Elections, unofficial results show Republican Barabara Wheeler beat Democrat Jeffrey Stark.
On election night, Wheeler was leading Stark 385 to 351 votes. Wheeler gained 362 absentee votes, while Stark gained 350.
The unofficial total for each candidate is 747 for Wheeler and 701 for Stark.
For the District 2 legislator position, Democrat Thomas Quackenbush defeated Conservative Brian Sweet.
Quackenbush was leading Sweet 564 to 507 on election night.
Quackenbush gained 593 absentee votes and Sweet gained 537.
The unofficial total for each candidate is 1,157 for Quackenbush and 1,044 for Sweet.
The county will have a legislature and county executive for the first time starting Jan. 1. The county decided to change its form of government from a board of supervisors to a legislature.
