Driver of car in U.S. illegally, police say

GLOVERSVILLE - City police said four people face drug charges after a vehicle was pulled over Monday, which was being driven by a man illegally in the United States.

Secundino Guillermo-Antonio, 28, of 668 Lily Lake Road, Anntwanette M. Figueroa, 26, of 44 N. Main St., Tonya L. Ryle, 38, of 16 E. Eighth Ave., and Destiny L. Brooker, 32, of 25 Lexington Ave., were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police said when the vehicle was stopped and searched on?South Main?Street, all of the people in the car were found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Capt. John Sira said two different prescription drugs were found.

Police said the driver, Guillermo-Antonio, was found to be a Mexican national illegally in this country. He was detained to be turned over to U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

Sira said Guillermo-Antonio had been in the country illegally for the past eight years.

"It doesn't happen daily or monthly, but we run into [people illegally in the country] frequently," Sira said. "Over the past 22 years I've been here, we've had people from all over the world."

The women were released on appearance tickets and will return to City Court at a later date.
