William J. Jones, age 86, of Sprakers, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
Born on May 28, 1927, in Gloversville, he was the son of the late George Jones and Frances Hare Jones.
Mr. Jones honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and a second tour in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1953. He was employed for many years as a factory worker with the White Mop Wringer Company in Fultonville.

Survivors include his wife, Marion Klingbeil Jones, whom he married on September 30, 1961; his five children, John W. Jones of New Jersey, James P. Jones of Sprakers, Jane F. Jones of Tribes Hill, David M. Jones of Sprakers and Thomas E. Jones of Fultonville; one brother, John P. Jones of Gloversville; one sister, Ann-Jennette Jones (Horn) of Shreveport, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Thomas M. Jones, Ian T. Jones and Susannah L. Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
William was predeceased by one brother, George Louis Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, New York.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville.
