Carmen Gentile Sr., 85, of Memory Lane, Amsterdam, N.Y., passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 12, 2013, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, N.Y.
Born in Gloversville, N.Y., on April 9, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jennie Russo Gentile.
Carmen received his education in the Gloversville school system.

Carmen was a self-employed businessman, and was the owner of Adirondack Wood Products in Gloversville.
He loved to work, spend time with his family and grandchildren and cooking.
Carmen is survived by his wife, Lois Gowdie Gentile, to whom he married April 4 1959; one son, Carmen Gentile Jr. (Angela) of Amsterdam, N.Y.; two daughters, Gina Gentile and her husband, Steven Smith of Latham, N.Y.; and Jo-Christine Wagner (Clinton Sr.) of Amsterdam, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Noah, Sophie and Jacob Smith, Santino and Tahlia Gentile, Clinton Jr., Alexandra and Christopher Wagner, one brother, Joseph Gentile (Marie) and one sister, Jennie Pierce, all of Gloversville, N.Y. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Carmen was also predeceased by three brothers, Carl, Tony and Guy Gentile.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, N.Y. followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated at St Stephen's Church, Pawling Street, Hagaman, N.Y.
Entombment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown, N.Y.
Calling hours are Friday, November 15, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary.
