Roger A. Deere, 74, of Mayfield, passed away on Monday evening, November 11, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on August 25, 1939, in Mayfield, he was the son of the late Allen and Bertha (Sweet) Deere.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman; he loved hunting, trapping, fishing and camping. He enjoyed teaching and sharing his outdoors skills with his family and friends; he often could be found helping someone sight in a rifle to prepare for hunting season. He was a member of the Mayfield Sportsman Club and the National Rifle Association.

He was married to Ruth Elizabeth Herrick Deere on November 27, 1981.
Besides his wife, Ruth Deere of Mayfield, Roger is survived by two sons, Roger W. Deere of Northville and Keith Deere of Johnstown; stepchildren, Dustin (Novalee) Byrne of Perth, Hugh Pick (Misty) Byrne of Oklahoma and Roxanne (Brett Lair) Emerick of Gloversville; one brother, Dennis (Cindy) Ostrander of Northville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his K-9 companion, Rosie; and feline friend, Boots.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a memorial service will follow the visitation at noon with the Rev. Dr. R.W. William officiating.
