Ruby Rollins Ketchum

Ruby Rollins Ketchum, age 82, of Gloversville, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the residence of her grandson.

She was born on March 11, 1931, in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Harold S. Rollins and Bessie Barber Rollins. Ruby was united in marriage to E. Kendall Ketchum on March 15, 1953, who passed in 2003.

She graduated from Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady. After graduation, she was employed with the American Automobile Association of Schenectady as the manager of the Montgomery County Division. After moving to Gloversville, she worked for the Grandoe Corporation as an inventory control coordinator. Later she was employed by Nathan Littauer Hospital Patient Accounts Department until her retirement.

Ruby was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church, Gloversville. During earlier years, she served as a Sunday school teacher and later as the superintendent of the Sunday school.

She is survived by one grandson, Bradley E. Kropf; one niece, Janice Frisone and her husband Julileo, one nephew, James E. Rollins and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ketchum was predeceased by one daughter, Nancy E. Hamm; one brother, William E. Rollins; and one nephew William E. Rollins II.

A memorial service will be conducted at noon on Friday, November 15, 2013, at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, with Deacon James O'Rourke, chaplain of St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Memorial contributions in Ruby's memory may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to Freda H. Gordon Hospice & Palliative Care of Tidewater, Virginia.
