Man hits trooper, gets tased: police

ROOT - A man was tased Friday after punching a trooper in the face, state police said.

Jeremy J.?Harrington, 40, of Fort Plain was charged with third-degree attempted assault and disorderly conduct.

According to state police, a trooper responded Friday to the town to assist an ambulance with a combative subject.

Police said when the trooper arrived, the ambulance was stopped on?Route 5S, its back door was open and the personnel were trying to restrain Harrington.

Police said as the trooper assisted ambulance personnel, Harrington punched the trooper in the face. Harrington was tased in order to gain compliance, police said, and was restrained on the gurney.

The trooper was not injured during the incident, police said.

Harrington was arraigned in Town?Court and sent to Montgomery?County Jail on $1,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
