JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton County Board of Supervisors will consider several new county Highway and Facilities Department contracts at its meeting Tuesday at the County Office Building.
Department Superintendent Mark Yost received recent approval from the board's Buildings and Grounds-Highway Committee to bring the contracts to the full board's attention at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the County Office Building.
Yost received committee approval for a proposed contract to be awarded to County Waste & Recycling Service Inc. for waste removal at the Fulton County Jail. The firm bid $15.06 per pickup.
"The $15.06 is more in line with what we're paying right now," Yost stated.
Bids for the contract were opened Oct. 9 and the contract will run for 2014. There was one other bidder - Chris Rizzo Trucking Inc. - with that bid $28.40 per pickup.
The board Tuesday will consider a resolution authorizing a contract to Brezzy's Cleaning Service for custodial services at the County Office Building. Bids were opened Oct. 9 and the contract period will be from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, with the option to extend the contract through 2015 and 2016.
There were three bidders and Brezzy's rates were: 2014 - $75,4018; 2015 - $76,404; and 2016 - $77,412. One of the three bidders - Rayben Enterprises Inc. - was actually lower in price. But Yost said Rayben requested the county allow it to withdraw its bid because the firm used the wrong building data to complete its bid.
The board will consider a resolution awarding a contract to Superior Plus Energy Services for heating oil for certain county buildings for 2014. The company was the sole bidder and the bid was $3.23 per gallon for No. 2 heating oil, and $3.40 per gallon for 50/50 blend.
Supervisors on Tuesday also will consider a resolution advanced by Yost to authorize a contract for repair of a boiler at the county's St. Mary's Annex Building in Gloversville. A 1994 Weil McLain boiler has developed a crack and Yost proposed replacing heating sections at a cost of $15,000.
