Absentee ballots to be counted

JOHNSTOWN - Fulton County elections officials say they are counting absentee ballots to determine the winner of the Gloversville councilman-at- large race.

James Robinson, the Republican incumbent, led Democratic Councilwoman Robin Wentworth, 1,130 to 1,049, an 81-vote margin, after the polls closed Tuesday.

The Board of Elections has since counted 185 absentee ballots and is counting more today, deputy Election Commissioner Linda Madison said this morning.

A?total of 303 absentee ballots were sent to Gloversville voters. The last day for ballots to be received by mail is Tuesday. Voters in the military have a deadline Nov. 18 for their ballots to be received.

Wentworth was on the ballot on the Democratic and independent Community Roots lines, while Robinson appeared on the Republican line.

The councilman-at-large position carries a four-year term. The salary is $3,125 per year
