James A. Carter Sr., age 74, of St. Johnsville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center Inc.
Born on November 10, 1938, in Gloversville, he was the son of the late James W. Carter and Marion Jeffers Carter.
James served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a former member of the Gloversville Loyal Order of Moose.
Survivors include: three sons, James A. Carter Jr. of Johnstown, Anthony J. Carter of West Virginia and Jamie A. Carter of Ohio; one daughter, Nicole M. Carter of Alexandria Bay; three brothers, John Carter of Mayfield, David Carter of Johnstown and William Carter of Rochester; four sisters, Janice Frasier of Fort Plain, Jacqueline Beck of Gloversville, Karen Carter of Delaware and Kathy Carpinski of Mayfield; grandchildren, Erik Carter, Brianna Gardner, Alex Van Patten, Cheyenne Weaver, Aleesha Weaver, Robert Carter, Anthony Carter and Jamie A. Carter Jr.; nieces, nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Michelle Lynn Carter; and two grandsons, Michael Carter and Zachary Carter.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday prior to the service from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, at a later date.
