GLOVERSVILLE - A city man was arrested Saturday after police said he pushed his girlfriend, causing her to fall into an object, and damaging her cellphone.

Thomas A. Canty Jr., 36, of 190 N. Kingsboro Ave., was charged with third-degree attempted assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Police said officers responded to the upstairs apartment at 5 Spruce St. after a physical altercation was reported. They determined Canty had pushed his girlfriend, causing her to fall into an rabbit cage, police said.

Capt. John Sira said the fall causing caused minor abrasions and swelling to her back. He also said her iPhone was broken after Canty threw it.

Sira said the fight was about a personal matter between the couple.

Canty was arraigned in City Court and released on his own recognizance.
