Joshua E. Murray of Duane Avenue, Schenectady, passed away suddenly on Oct. 30, 2013, at Ellis Hospital.
He was born in Jamaica, West Indies, to the late John and Zettie (Roy) Murray. Joshua was married to his beloved wife, best friend and soul mate, Patricia A. (Hall) Murray.
Joshua worked in the construction business specializing in acoustical ceilings. He was employed by various companies and was the owner of Jamaican Acoustics.
Joshua was truly a man who loved God and his family. He was a kind, generous man of great pride and wisdom. He always had time for everyone. He loved the young people in his family and always encouraged and supported them in every way he knew. He would always say "every day above ground is a good day," and he lived it! He was a great cook who loved to feed and entertain family and friends.
Along with his parents, Joshua was pre-deceased by his beloved son, Kent Murray; brothers, Ashley Black and Dudley Murray; sister, Lisa Murray; father-in-law, John Hall Sr. and his brother-in-law, Charles Leslie.
Joshua is survived by his wife Patricia; son, Stewart Springs (Tynekia Lewis) of Virginia; daughters, Rosie Boone of Columbia, S.C., Carlean Murray of Rochester, N.Y., Donna Jones of Schenectady, N.Y. and his special daughter Rita Orozco of Amsterdam, N.Y.
He also is survived by his brothers, John (Evie) Murray of Canada, Aginal Murray of Jamaica, West Indies; sisters, Myrtle Holness of England, Lorraine Murray and Jean Garvey of Canada; grandchildren, Katrina, Darell, Chadwick, Chadaejzhia, Jasmyne, Juell, Talik, Natalie and Caesar; great-grandsons, Durondre and Jayden; siblings-in-law, Joseph (Roseanne) George, John (Helen) Tracy, Monica, Janet (Freddie) Kelly Elizabeth and Constance; very special uncle-son Stanley Leslie and a beloved host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Also, a special son-friend Jerome Watts and family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady, N.Y. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery, Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to NYOH Rexford Cancer Center in Rexford, N.Y.
