Regarding the Tuesday article in The Leader- Herald, "Effort supports girl with heart ailment," I would like to add some additional information.
I am doing an angel pin fundraiser for Anna King and her family. Originally from Mayfield, 13-year-old Anna and her family now live in Texas. Anna needs a heart transplant and has been waiting well over 500 days.
Last year, local folk artist Teddi Knapp and I teamed up to make pins for John Valovic, who needed to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute so he could run in the Boston Marathon. We were very successful in just six short weeks of selling the angel pins, and John was able to run in the Boston Marathon while raising money for Dana Farber.
After seeing "Humor Heals the Heart," the Anna King Project online, we decided to do a fundraiser for Anna King. Teddi created four new angel designs and I am making the pins. The pins sell for $3 each.
The pins can be purchased at the following businesses: Vintage Cafe and Railside Cafe in Johnstown; the Gloversville Sewing Center, Bona Liquor and Post Net in Gloversville; Deb Hannis' Hair Peace and Teddi Knapp's Shop, and Core Fit in Mayfield; and Adirondack Country Store in Northville. We will also be selling them at various local events in the coming weeks. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 774-8717.
The pins will be available until Christmas, at which time we will present the King family with a check.
