Kenneth D. Swarts

Mr. Kenneth D. Swarts, 67, of Gloversville, passed away October 27, 2013.

He was born August 31, 1946, in Gloversville, son of the late George and Mildred O'Donnell Dake Swarts. Ken was educated in Gloversville schools and served in the Navy briefly in 1963. A devote traveler, Ken enjoyed many occupations and experiences in life. He made many friends during his travels. Although Ken found almost any task easy, he prided himself on his reputation as a carpet and flooring installer. He had worked for various local home furnishing companies and also worked locally as a electrical assistant for area contractors.

He was an active member of the American Legion Post 137, Gloversville.

As a hobby, Ken could usually be found at an auction or looking for antiques.

Ken is survived by his sisters and brothers, Barbara "Punkie" Rocca (Joseph) Jr. of Perth, Nancy Spring (Lawrence) of Pattersonville, James E. Dake (Patricia) of Cloquet, Minn., Stephen J. Swarts (Clara) of Gloversville and Michael Dake (Jean) of Bleecker. Several nieces and nephews also survive, and his longtime friend, Ruth Sturm. Kenneth was predeceased by two sisters, Gail Nicolella and Susan Leo.

Private services and burial took place at the convenience of his family in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
