Wells boys defeated in semifinals

ELIZABETHTOWN - Austin Morris scored twice to lead second-seeded Elizabethtown-Lewis to a 3-1 win over third-seeded Wells in the semifinals of the Section VII Class D boys soccer tournament Monday.

Joel Morris also scored for the Lions, while Damien Gay and Hugh Harwood each had an assist.

Stephen Raymond scored the lone goal for Wells.

Austin Morris opened the scoring for Elizabethtown-Lewis on an assist from Gay 20:22 into the first half before scoring his second goal on an assist from Harwood with 9:01 left in the half to make it 2-0 at the break.

Joel Morris scored an unassisted goal 16:17 into the second half to make it 3-0.

Raymond ended the Lions' shutout bid, scoring on a penalty kick with 9:48 to play.

Justin LaPier made three saves to post the win in goal for Elizabethtown-Lewis, which finished witha 31-8 advantage in shots.

Ben Brenan made 25 saves for Wells.

Elizabethtown-Lewis (14-5 overall) will face top-seeded Chazy in the Section VII Class D championship game Saturday at 7 p.m. at Plattsburgh High School.

Chazy posted a 3-1 win over fourth-seeded Schroon Lake on Monday. Alec LaPierre, Hayden Guay and Dylan Garrow scored for the Eagles, who improved to 14-1-3 overall. Jordan Finnerty scored the lone goal for Schroon Lake (12-2-1 overall).

Wells, which defeated No. 6 seed Westport 3-0 in the quarterfinals, ended its season with a 12-2 overall record.
