FMCC volleyball wraps up season

HUDSON - The Fulton-Montgomery Community College volleyball team ended its season at the Mountain Valley Conference Tournament at Columbia-Greene Community College on Saturday.

The third-seeded Lady Raiders lost to top-seeded Herkimer County Community College, 3-1, by scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-21 and 26-24.

"I'm really proud of these girls," FMCC head coach Rachel Salvione said. "They played well today, and much better than when we met Herkimer in the regular season."

The Generals went on to win the tournament title with a 3-2 win over SUNY Adirondack.

FMCC freshman Whitney Ostrander (Mayfield) was named to the all-conference team.

Ostrander had 10 kills, four blocks, four digs and two aces for the Lady Raiders, while Shelby Lyons had 27 assists, six digs and two aces. Sarah Wyzomirski posted 14 kills and five blocks for FMCC, Emily Robinson had 12 digs and two kills, and Taylor Wetsky posted six blocks and two kills. Caitlyn Hayward finished with 17 digs and two aces for the Lady Raiders, Liz Hayward had 13 digs, two aces and two kills, and Gabby Hale added seven digs and three aces.

FMCC finished the season 11-12 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
