Doris L. Fisher

Doris L. Fisher, age 93, of Gloversville, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville, her residence for the past several years.

She was born on July 13, 1920, at home in Bleecker, a daughter of the late Ralph Winnie and Emma Ort Winnie.

Doris worked for over 25 years at the cafeteria of Nathan Littauer Hospital. She previously was employed with Robison & Smith. Mrs. Fisher was a longtime resident of the area, residing for many years at her home on Temple Street and then to her home at 24 Jay Street, Gloversville. Doris was a supporting member of the Bleecker Community Church. She enjoyed times with family and friends cooking, travelling to her favorite destinations such as Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Alexandria Bay, Atlantic City, Williamsburg, Virginia, Newport Beach and Bethany Beach. Mrs. Fisher loved the companionship of her dogs, Ginger, Tiny, Lucky, Freckles and Buddy, her beloved Sheltie, who resided at the nursing home with her for a time.

Doris was united in marriage to Raymond Fisher on July 19, 1952, and enjoyed 29 years of marriage until his passing on October 23, 1981.

Mrs. Fisher is survived by one sister, Virginia Wardner and her husband, Edward of Holland Patent; cousins, Betty Younglove and Beverly Bolebruch; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pat Burns, Shirley Cook, Dave and Elaine Burns, and Rick and Sandy Burns.

In addition to her husband, Raymond, she was predeceased by two sisters, Almeda Winnie Brown and Florence Winnie Brown; two brothers, Harold Winnie and infant Clarence Winnie; and her first husband, Jason "Jack" Burdick; and companion, Jack Burns.

Private services will held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home East Wing for all the wonderful loving care that was given to Doris during her stay.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Fisher's memory may be made to the Bleecker Community Church, c/o the Rev. Kathy L. Reese, 148 County Highway 109, Broadalbin, NY 12025.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, New York.
