Ernest Leo Christiano, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, October 18, 2013, at his home. Ernie was born June 11, 1921, in Gloversville, N.Y., the son of Antonio Christiano and Lucia Salino Christiano of Grumo Nevano, Italy. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Maria Rose Santangelo Christiano.
Ernie lived in Gloversville his entire life, but also spent many winters at his Florida condo in Pompano, Fla. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School, where he gained his love for basketball. He was employed at G. Levor's in Gloversville for 32 years. He also was part owner-operator of Crandy's Bar, and later Maria's Restaurant in Gloversville. He continued to produce his famous Italian dressing long after the restaurant closed.
Ernie was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose since 1987. He was an avid golfer and amassed 21 holes-in-one on the various courses he played locally and in Florida. Besides basketball, he also loved baseball and the Yankees.

Ernie is survived by his sons, Anthony "Crit" Christiano (Elaine) of Gloversville and Andrew Christiano (Lori) of Jupiter, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kerry Molina (Carlos) of Gainesville, Va., Corey Christiano (Gina) of Raleigh, N. Carolina, Kyle Christiano of Gloversville; and stepgrandchild, Sarah Metzler of Jupiter, Fla.; and his great-grandchildren, Arianna Christiano of Gloversville, and Spencer and Lacy Molina of Gainesville; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ernie was the youngest of his predeceased nine siblings: his sisters, Theresa Viola, Angelina DiPalma, Sprenza Gibson, Mary VanAllen, Anne Daniels and Frances Christiano; and his brothers, Peter, Louis and Thomas Christiano.
A graveside service and celebration of Ernie's life will take place in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y. and will be announced at a later date.
