Christine Parker

Christine Marie (Graziano) Parker, 44, of 17 Hamilton St., Johnstown, passed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, October, 18, 2013, at home, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Christine was born on July, 11, 1969, in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of Frank and Angel DeRosa Graziano. Christine was a 1987 graduate of Gloversville High School, attended Russell Sage College and graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1991 with degrees in elementary education and French. She earned her master's degree in education from SUNY Albany in 1997.

She started her teaching career at Boulevard School, teaching second grade. After a year, Christine moved to Gloversville High, where she taught French, Spanish and Latin. In 1995, Christine and her family moved to Rome N.Y., where she taught in the middle school at Camden Central, Camden, NY.

Christine changed careers in 2001, opening a State Farm Insurance agency on Fifth Ave. in Gloversville. In 2005, she joined her husband in operating the Parker Agency State Farm Insurance at 299 North Comrie Ave., Johnstown. Christine and her husband also operated Parker's Flowers and Greenhouses on Townsend Ave. Johnstown.

Christine married Mickey Parker Jr. on June 20, 1992. They celebrated 21 years of marriage.

Christine was kind and generous, always had a smile and a kind word for whomever she met. Like Will Rogers , Christine "never met a person she didn't like." A true and genuine friend always. She enjoyed skiing the Rockies, wandering the beaches at Cabo San Lucas and visiting the vineyards and wineries of Napa-Sonoma with family and friends.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sydney Victoria and Grace Alexandra of Johnstown, her parents, Frank and Angel Graziano of Florida, a brother, Salvatore (Carrie) Graziano of East Greenbush; in-laws Michael J. and Carol Parker of Mayfield, her brother-in-law Christopher (Amy) Parker of Rotterdam, her five nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 22, from 4-7 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, NY (corner of State Highway 29 & Black St.) Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 23, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Route 29, Johnstown, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078; American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211; or American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
