H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Huskies hand Johnstown first Foothills Council loss

JOHNSTOWN - Gloversville ended Johnstown's perfect run through the Foothills Council volleyball schedule Friday.

The Huskies handed the Lady Bills their first Foothills loss off the season in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Gloversville won the opening two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-20 before Johnstown rallied to tie the match at 2-2 after winning the third set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-22. In the decisive fifth set, the Huskies won 25-21 to secure the match victory.

Jenna Putnam had 23 assists and nine kills for Gloversville (14-4 overall, 10-4 Foothills), while Christina Pavlovsky posted 12 assists and nine digs. Katlyn Pierce registered 16 kills and 12 blocks for the Huskies, Ana Kroup had eight digs and eight kills, and Chelsey Biasini added five kills and five digs.

Annie Stock led Johnstown with 34 digs and 24 kills, while Brianne O'Rourke posted eight kills and four blocks. Ieasha Lopez-Gonzalez registered 24 digs for the Lady Bills, while Alyssa Nellis finished with 19 digs, eight kills and two blocks. Jerica Holland had 31 assists, 13 digs and eight kills for Johnstown, and Morgan Catania added 17 assists and nine digs. Johnstown ends the regular season with an 18-5 overall record and a 13-1 Foothills Council mark.

Broadalbin-Perth 3, Scotia-Glenville 0

BROADALBIN - Maddie Gurga registered 21 service points, 11 assists, 10 aces and eight kills, powering Broadalbin-Perth to a sweep of Scotia-Glenville in a Foothills Council contest.

The Lady Patriots won by scores of 25-11, 25-10 and 25-16.

Chelsea LeBlanc posted seven kills and two solo blocks for B-P (12-3 overall, 11-3 Foothills), while Regan Reed added seven kills and five digs.

Scotia-Glenville slipped to 2-12 in Foothills Council play with the loss.

Non-league

Mayfield 3, Amsterdam 0

MAYFIELD - Jordan Marshall posted 12 service points, six kills, four aces and three assists, leading Mayfield to a sweep of Amsterdam.

The Lady Panthers won by scores of 25-9, 25-20 and 25-12.

Mackenzie Biggers finished with 10 assists and eight service points for Mayfield (13-3 overall), while Kaylee Bumpus had 13 points and three kills. Miranda Eagan registered three kills and one block for the Lady Panthers, and Kiera Davis added three kills.

Cassidy Arocho finished with three assists and one kill for Amsterdam (3-13 overall), while Destiny Smith added two kills.
