Walter O. ‘Butch’ Bruse

Mr. Walter O. "Butch" Bruse Jr., age 67, of Broadalbin, died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.

He was born October 18, 1945, in Gloversville, the son of Thelma Saunders Bruse and the late Walter O. Bruse Sr. A 1964 graduate of Broadalbin High School, Butch served his country faithfully in the Army from 1965 to1967 in Vietnam.

Butch was a member of Broadalbin American Legion Post No. 337, Broadalbin V.F.W. Post No. 8690 and Union Local No. 157. He was employed for over 39 years by Callanan Industries, where he retired as a foreman in 2007.

He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and outdoor life activities. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

On September 15, 1973, he married Sandy L. Phillips, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Thomas J. Bruse and Jamie R. Bruse, both of Broadalbin; his mother, Thelma Walag of Gloversville; a sister, Cheryl Bruse of Gloversville; two brothers, Terry Bruse (Sally) of Vernon and Randy Walag (Christine) of Jacksonville, Fla.; one aunt, Edna Keller of Gloversville; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved pet dog, Zoey Lynn.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 20, at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St., Broadalbin, where a funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.

Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
