JOHNSTOWN - The Gloversville-Johnstown Wastewater Treatment Facility had no problems in last month's unannounced annual inspection by the state, sewer plant officials said.
Facility Wastewater Engineer Tyler Masick told the Joint Sewer Board Wednesday the state Department of Environmental Conservation inspected the sewage treatment plant Sept. 19. He said the facility was deemed in "satisfactory" condition.
"They didn't really find any deficiencies or anything," Masick stated.
He said the inspection by DEC of various operations at the sewer plant was "detailed.
"I think it was well done," said board member Kevin Jones. "We passed our inspection with DEC quietly, with no issues."
Elsewhere in his plant operations report to the board, Masick said the facility received a state Freedom Of Information Law request from Environmental Design Partnership of Clifton Park, Saratoga County, for a study it is doing. The Fulton County Board of Supervisors on July 8 hired the firm for $50,000 to design a system to possibly consolidate all water and sewer services within the county.
Masick said that based on the FOIL request, the sewer plant prepared a 122-page packet of budget information and data on design capacities at the treatment plant. He said the information was sent to Johnstown City Attorney Susan Palmer Johnson, who is working with Gloversville City Attorney Anthony Casale on release of information to Environmental Design Partnership. He said the sewer plant let the company know it had information for possible submission.
"It was pretty readily available [documents]," said sewer plant consultant George Bevington.
Fiscal Officer Donna Renda said it took staff an hour's time to gather the material.
The Joint Sewer Board decided in August the plant will not release any information to Fulton County's "SMART Waters" system consultant without permission of both cities' common councils and mayors.
