Thomas C. Mc Spirit

Mr. Thomas C. Mc Spirit Sr., 81, of Gloversville, passed away October 3, 2013 following a brief illness. He was born July 20, 1932 in Mayfield, son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Decker Mc Spirit. He was educated in Mayfield schools and employed most of his adult life at Nathan Littauer Hospital in the environmental services department. Early in life Tom worked at the Leader Herald, Van Nostrand Orchard's and Prospect Hill Cemetery. Tom was also a member of the Foothills United Methodist Church.

Tom loved the outdoors, especially family camping and the lakes in general. He enjoyed sitting in an Adirondack chair watching over his floral gardens and the many birds visiting his feeders and bird houses. In addition to his family, perhaps his greatest joy was the annual visit to the Fonda Fair. He looked forward to this more than anything.

Survivors include his wife Cora Stanton Mc Spirit of Gloversville, whom he married July 1, 1972. He is also survived by his children; Thomas C. Mc Spirit Jr. (Jennifer) of Johnstown, Timothy Mc Spirit and his companion (Sara) of Gloversville, Theodore Mc Spirit (Missy) of Gloversville and Tammi Beck (Steve) of Gloversville. Tom also leaves brothers; William Mc Spirit of Johnstown, Firman Mc Spirit of Mayfield and Fred Mc Spirit of Gloversville, sisters; Joan Carter of Gloversville and Patricia Passino of Washington State. Additional survivors include his grandchildren: Brady, Michael, Cameron, Trevor and Maegann Mc Spirit and Kalub Brown as well as several nieces, nephews and an aunt Joyce Decker of Gloversville. Tom was pre-deceased by brothers Francis, John, Dick, Charles and Earl and sister; Mabel Ward.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday October 9, 2013 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville. With Reverend Richard Reynolds officiating.
