Elizabeth Alice "Betty" Green Romeyn, 82, of County Highway 107, Fort Johnson, died peacefully Tuesday morning, October 1, 2013, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Amsterdam on March 16, 1931, a daughter of Charles and Evelyn Whitney Green and was educated in local schools. Betty was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed at Coleco Industries, Building 6 & 64, in Amsterdam and was a crew captain and shop steward before retiring in 1982 due to ill health. Previous jobs that she held included working at Consolidated Novelty, Bujods, Bayshores, and Collettes.

Mrs. Romeyn was a former member of St. Luke's Church in Amsterdam.
Betty loved to read and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was married to Jay H. Romeyn until his death on March 25, 2008. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles W. Green; and a sister, Karen Ann Davis.
Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn (Ron) DelCostello and Eileen Tambasco, both of Perth, and Jayne Tambasco of Johnstown; a son, John C. Tatlock of Perth; a sister, Charlotte E. Neahr of Amsterdam; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106, (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown, with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
