JOHNSTOWN - Melissa Pitts and Whitney Flansburg scored to lead Saratoga Springs to a 2-0 win over Johnstown in a non-league field hockey contest Monday at Knox Field.
"I think these kind of non-league games are what's best for the team," Johnstown coach Tracy Ringer said. "We need to play teams that will challenge us and push us to the limit to get ready for sectionals."
Pitts scored the lone goal of the first half with 14:10 remaining.

Flansburg sealed the win for the Blue Streaks, scoring on an assist from Olivia Lehane with 1:25 to play in the second half.
"We were in it all the way to the end," Ringer said. "We switched things up in the second half and controlled things more than in the first half."

Kristin Wright made 10 saves for Johnstown (7-3 overall).
Saratoga Springs outshot Johnstown 14-6 and finished with a 9-5 edge in penalty corners.
