Thomas nets four goals in Lady Dragons’ 12-1 win

GLOVERSVILLE - The Gloversville Lady Dragons notched nine first-half goals en route to defeating Hudson Falls 12-1 in Foothills Council girls soccer action Friday at Gloversville High School.

Chanel Thomas finished the game with four goals and Amanda Bakyta had three tallies. Also scoring for Gloversville were Natasha Simon, Emily Gifford, Ashley Young, Caroline Bakyta and Tecey Jimenez.

Thomas also had four assists, while Caroline Bakyta had two assists and Madison Fancher, Emma Botch and Katie Hauser had one apiece.

Hudson Falls' goal was scored by Madison Akins.

For the match, Gloversville outshot Hudson Falls 23-3 and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Johnstown 6, Glens Falls 3

JOHNSTOWN - Morganne Dick scored a hat trick for the Lady Bills in their victory over Glens Falls.

Adding to Dick's three goals were Megan Anagnostopulos, Kendra McCoy and Kaitlyn Pica. Jordyn Hale and Reily Kotwasinski had assists.

Megan Kanofsky had two goals and an assist for Glens Falls, while Sophie Tougas added a goal.

Briana Esposito made 10 saves in goal for Johnstown (4-3-1 Foothills, 5-3-1 overall) , while Demi Vanderheyden and Kady Bates combined for 12 stops for the Lady Indians (1-7 Foothills).

Western Athletic Conference

Canajoharie 11, Fort Plain 0

CANAJOHARIE - Morgan Koelbl connected for four goals and an assist to lead Canajoharie to a dominiating 11-0 Western Athletic Conference victory Friday afternoon at Canajoharie High School.

Jenelle Dillenbeck added three goals and an assist, while Ariannah Logan, Jordan Hammons, Dainara Veeder and Makenzie Rickard added one goal each.

Ariannah Logan had three assists in the match, while Lauren Balfe had two assists in the field and three saves in goal.

Also recording assists for the Lady Cougars were Jordyn Logan, Hammons. Andrea Dingman had an assist and a save in goal.

Fort Plain goalkeeper Briannah Florian made 27 saves for the match.
