Dolly?Day Tournament a winner for charity

September 26, 2013
The Leader Herald

On behalf of the United Way of Montgomery County Board of Directors, our agencies and people we serve, I want to thank the Lazarou family, the sponsors and golfers that participated in the recent Dolly Day Golf Tournament.

For the past eight years, the Lazarou Family has sponsored a memorial golf tournament honoring Dolly Lazarou, an avid golfer and supporter of the community and its youth. All proceeds raised have benefited local charities and community needs. For the past two years, the Lazarou family has chosen the United Way as its beneficiary.

This year's successful tournament was in large part because of our sponsors; please support them for their generosity: NBT Bank, National Grid, Bouchey & Clarke, usm solutions, St. Mary's Healthcare, Alpin Haus, Lazarou Insurance and Financial Services, West & Company, AAA Northway, Advantage Rentals, LCS&Z, Amsterdam Professional Fighters, The Leader-Herald, the Sherlock Family, CDPHP, Dr's Mayer and Cope Family Practice, Perth Dental, Emerald Cinemas, Mr. Mike Rose, Fage, Horace J. Inman Senor Center, Travelers Insurance, Route 30 Subway, Amsterdam YMCA, Amsterdam PBA, Costa Lazarou, Key Bank and Joe the Pro.

Prizes, gift, and raffle items were generously donated by: Bartyzel Inc., Black Bear, Dolci, FMCC, Fox Run GC, Rich Scott, L'Ultimo, Laura Elmendorf's Muni Clubhouse, Peddlers Wagon, Quality Express Printing, Raindancer, Rolling Hills GC, South side Market, Target and several who gave anonymously.

A sincere thank you to the Amsterdam Golf Commission, Joe (the Pro) Merendo his staff, and Laura Elmendorf and her Muni Clubhouse staff for a great day of golf complimented by a wonderful meal.

Our United Way is appreciative of the trust that the Lazarou family places in us to make sure that the proceeds from Dolly Day Tournament go to help those in need throughout our community.

Thank you to all and see you next year.

FRED QUIST

Interim director,
