September 19, 2013
The Leader Herald

Annunziata "Nancy" Greco, a former resident of Hillcrest Spring, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning on her 94th birthday at the E.L. Wilkinson RHCF after a brief illness.

Born in Molochio, Reggio Calabria, Italy on September 18, 1919, the daughter of the late Paolo and Isabella Siciliano Malivindi, she came to Amsterdam in 1939 to reside with her aunt and uncle Concetta and Carmel Siciliano, who founded Carmel's Diner in 1912. While working at the diner, she met Vito A. Greco, the manager. They were united in marriage on Feb. 8, 1942. After the passing of her aunt and uncle, Nancy and Vito operated the diner until they retired in 1981. Vito passed away on Feb. 6, 1998. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church and the former St. Michael's Church. Nancy was active in several community organizations including the Columbiettes of Council 209, the Santa Sofia Society of St. Michael's parish and bowled with both the Columbiettes and the Wednesday Niters Bowling Leagues. She was also a member of the Columbian Social Club Auxiliary. She was a prolific knitter making dozens of sweaters for family and friends. This past Christmas she lovingly made two dozen scarves for the residents of Hillcrest Spring and was currently working on some for this year's holidays. Nancy enjoyed the family gatherings at their summer home on the Sacandaga Lake for the past fifty years. As a typical Italian grandmother, she loved cooking and baking for her grandchildren.

She leaves her loving family: sons, attorney Carmel J. Greco and his wife, Maria of Perth, and Gerald L. Greco and his wife, Alice of Rockport, Mass.; grandchildren, Gerald L. Greco Jr., David C., Peter V., Matthew P. and Antonia M. Greco; great-grandchildren, Nicholas M. and Lucille C. Greco; a sister, Rosa in Italy; sister-in-law, Raffaela Tucci of Amsterdam; brother-in-law, Rosario Licciardi of Johnstown; and nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Italy.
