Sex offender gets prison time

September 14, 2013
The Leader Herald

JOHNSTOWN - A former Gloversville resident, and level 2 convicted sex offender, was sentenced Friday in Fulton County Court to 1 1/3 to four years in state prison for failure to register.

Tywann Johnson, 26, formerly of 11 Carpenter St., was sentenced by Judge Polly A, Hoye to the prison time, as well as $100 restitution. He was sentenced as part of a plea arrangement.

Sentencing was based on his July 25 guilty plea to one count of failure to register or verify address.

Johnson was arrested in May in New York City on a warrant.

Police said the law requires registered sex offenders to report their change of address immediately to their local police department. Johnson failed to do so when he fled the area to an unknown location in New York City, police said.
