PERTH - An area cab driver was charged by Fulton County sheriff's deputies Wednesday for allegedly having marijuana in his taxi.
Deputies said Norman J. Lockwood, 51, of Humphrey Lane, Fort Johnson, was charged with passing a stop sign and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was charged after a vehicle stop on County Highway 107.
Deputies said Lockwood - operating a cab for a local taxi company that was not identified - was observed passing a stop sign at Noonan and McQueen roads. Officers detected an odor of marijuana burning from the cab, which had no passengers, deputies said.
A search of the cab revealed a quantity of marijuana in the driver's side door compartment, deputies said. The marijuana was seized, deputies said.
Lockwood was issued appearance tickets for Town Court.
