Man threw gun out of window: police

GLOVERSVILLE -?City police said a report of trespassing led to a man being arrested after he threw a backpack containing a handgun out a window.

Ricardo Charles, 23, was charged Wednesday with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said officers responded to 8 Second Ave. Wednesday afternoon for a report of a trespass in progress. On arrival, police said, officers were directed to the third floor. After officers entered the apartment, police said, they found Charles alone in the location and removed him.

Police said officers learned as they were entering the apartment, witnessess saw a backpack being thrown out of the third-story window. Officers located a handgun in the backpack and other property belonging to Charles.

Police said there also is a warrant for Charles out of Schenectady.

Charles?was arraigned in?City Court and sent to Fulton?County?Correctional?Facility on $20,000 cash bail.
