Baker named to all-tournament team

CHICOPEE, Mass. - A pair of SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team members were honored for their play at the 2013 Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms College over the weekend with all-tournament team honors as voted on by the coaches whose teams participated in the event.

Senior outside hitter Amber Baker, a Johnstown High School and Fulton-Montgomery Community College graduate, and freshman setter Katie Yang, a Schenectady High School graduate, were both honored for their play at the event.

Baker averaged 2.3 kills and 3.0 digs per set in 10 contests for Cobleskill.

The Fighting Tigers opened their season on Friday evening coming from behind to defeat Albertus Magnus College 3-2 by set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 19-25, 25-16, and 15-10; prior to downing host Elms College 3-0 by scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-18.

Cobleskill closed the tournament on Saturday by losing to Westfield State College 3-0 by scores of 25-18, 25-11 and 25-15 to open the campaign with a 2-1 overall record.
