JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an agricultural "festival" Sept. 29 at Rogers Family Orchards, a chamber official said Tuesday.
County Tourism Director Gina DaBiere-Gibbs highlighted the upcoming event in her monthly report to the Fulton County Board of Supervisors' Economic Development and Environment Committee.
"Again, we're going to sponsor 'Fulton County's Day at the Farm,''' DaBiere-Gibbs said.
She said the fourth annual event will be conducted from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 29 at Rogers Family Orchards, 260 County Highway 131, Johnstown. She said the event, including food vendors, is designed to "support our agricultural community," She said parking and entrance to the grounds are free, and everyone receives a complimentary ice cream cone and a chance to climb a hay mountain.
DaBiere-Gibbs said "Fulton County's Day at the Farm'' will include horse and tractor-drawn wagon rides. Festivalgoers will be able to pick their own apples, and a wide selection of already-picked apples, pumpkins, vegetables, and cider, honey and maple products will be available.
Exhibitors will showcase oxen, dairy and beef cattle, horses, alpacas, rabbits, poultry and other farm animals, DaBiere-Gibbs said. Local producers of Christmas trees, ornamental nursery stock, bedding plants, fruits, vegetables and fall flowers will be on display, she said.
DaBiere-Gibbs said farm equipment from days past and modern farming technologies will be represented to "remind residents that farming remains viable today and important to our local economy."
