Seven accused of welfare charges

FONDA - The Montgomery County Department of Social Services charged seven people recently on counts related to welfare fraud.

According to DSS?Commissioner Michael McMahon, the following were charged:

Tina Stewart, 45, of 46 Reid St., Amsterdam, was charged with one count of first- degree offering a false instrument for filing and one count of fourth-degree welfare fraud.

Maria Del Carmen Miranda, 32, of 389 Locust Ave., Amsterdam, was charged with one first-degree count of offering a false instrument for filing.

Albert Chase III, 32, of 140 Toback Road, Esperance, was charged with one first-degree count of offering a false instrument for filing.

Debbie Valentine, 54, of 311 Vrooman Ave., Amsterdam, was charged with with one first-degree count of offering a false instrument for filing and one count of fourth-degree welfare fraud.

Robert Brooks Jr., 62, of 58 Reid St., Amsterdam, was charged with with one first-degree count of offering a false instrument for filing and one count of fourth-degree welfare fraud.

Yajaira Rivera, 32, of Amsterdam, was charged with one count of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

Those charged were scheduled to appear in the Mohawk Town Court.
