Ramona L. Jackson, 60, of Woods Hollow Road, Gloversville, died Tuesday morning, August 27, 2013, at home following a short illness.
She was born in Schenectady on September 11, 1952, a daughter of David and Jean Close Mincarelli and was a 1970 graduate of Mohonasen High School. Mrs. Jackson lived in Rotterdam before moving to Gloversville in 1985.
She was an Avon representative in Fulton County for nearly ten years and earned the President's Club status. In addition, Ramona was an employment case manager for Lexington Center in Gloversville for eleven years, where she assisted people with multiple barriers to find employment and improve their lives.
In her spare time, Ramona enjoyed crewelwork and crocheting. She was known to be a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her family and friends. Ramona also enjoyed swimming and caring for her pool.
Survivors include her husband, Garry L. Jackson, whom she married on December 17, 1983; a son, Garry C. Jackson of Gloversville; two daughters, Tracie M. Bates of Perth and Valerie Jackson of Gloversville; her father, David Mincarelli of Rotterdam; a brother, Timothy Mincarelli of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a sister, Noreen Fyvie of Schenectady; nine grandchildren, Henry, Zachari, Lillian, Jackson, Tristan, Jacob, Juliana, Tyler, and Dylan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams, officiating. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital District Cancer Research Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
