Thanks to attendees at Class of ’73 reunion

August 28, 2013
The Leader Herald

Thank you to all who attended the Johnstown?High?School Class of 1973 reunion held Aug. 3 at The Johnstown Family Moose. This was our 40th and we (the committee) wanted to make sure it was special. The food was delicious. The Moose cook, Al, did a great job with the food. Classmate Michelle Gentile made and donated her decadent pastries and Veronica Quinn made us a delicious cake. You did a great job; thank you very much.

The event was attended by some of our teachers and administrators: Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Coach) Underwood, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Batty, Mrs. Roz Melita and Mr. Carl Jurica. Great company and conversation, and we want to thank them for making the effort to attend.

Surprises included a sudden flash mob appearance by the current JHS high school band. Their band director, Mr. Andy LaCoppola, did a great job of organizing the students that played the high school Alma Mater. It was awesome. Several members of the Class of '73 broke into song with their own version of the school Alma Mater written in 1973 by two talented musicians from the class, Steve Hanson and Wally Bramer. Thank you guys; that was so awesome!

We were honored to have available Gary McCoy and George Praught to play a few songs for us and we want to thank them for doing such a great job. Thank you Gary McCoy for playing "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes during a moment of silence in memory of our deceased class members.

An additional feature to the night's activities was Skype. Yes, we were Skyped in with students that live out of state or were unable to be at the event. We would like to give a big thank you to Sam, owner of Sam's Seafood & Steak House, for our great banner that he donated to our reunion. The banner read: "Classy people JHS Class of 1973!"

The committee members were Roberta Thomas, Joseph Licciardi, Eric Unislowski, Gary McCoy, Andy Lewis and Michelle Gentile. The farthest traveled to make a meeting was Jim (Pa) Lathers, all the way from Colorado. Way to go, Jim.

Thank you again to everyone involved in adding to another successful JHS 1973 class reunion.
