The Leader Herald

ST. JOHNSVILLE - The 41st annual Fort Klock Craft Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 7 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 8, at the fort's restoration museum complex on Route 5.

Almost 100 artisans and crafters from across the Northeast will offer their arts, crafts and talents at the event. Admission and parking will be free, according to a news release.

The craft fair is known for the diversity of its only handmade items, which include folk art, jewelry, candles, pottery, knitted goods and carved and painted woodcrafts, according to the release. There also will be furniture, plants, floral arrangements and wreaths, paintings on stone and slate and more.

There will be a cornucopia of food products, such as culinary herbs, pies, cookies, breads, jams and mason jar foods, the news release said.

At 11:30 a.m. Sept. 7, Fort Klock members and friends will feature a table of homemade foods, desserts, doughnuts, cider and coffee next to the fort. Also, near the Dutch barn, there will be a food wagon selling hot dogs, fries, hamburgers and soda on both days, the release said.

There will be a Chinese auction tent, on the downhill side of the barn, with items donated by the crafters, the news release said.

At the fort gift shop, there will be items and books for sale. In addition, guided tours of the Fort Klock farmhouse will be offered for a fee, the news release said.

The fort's annual craft fair is a major fundraiser for the ongoing restoration projects at the site, the release said.
