Broadalbin Seniors slate road trips

BROADALBIN - The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met Aug. 14 for the Office for the Aging luncheon and meeting, with 41 in attendence, including three guests, Isabella and Madison Fagant and Mike Stangle. President Toni Hallenbeck presided over the meeting.

Chaplain Mary Peck did a reading and led the group in reciting "The Lord's Prayer" and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The roll call was read by June Zea, vice president.

The reports of Nancy Weiss, secretary and Phil Guadagno, treasurer were accepted as read.

For the sunshine report, Carol Armitage noted the cards she sent out. Armitage was welcomed back after having surgery.

The raffle winner was Belinda Gundersen.

Hallenbeck, trip chairman, spoke of upcoming trips: Sept. 19, Delaware-Ulster Railroad trip with lunch on the train; Oct. 8-10, Lancaster, Pa.; Nov. 7, Lee and Stockbridge, Mass. She is also working on some shows at Proctors Theater in Schenectady. If interested, call Hallenbeck at 883-3008.

The cleanup committee for the month: Betty Rowley and Carol Armitage.

The program was an aucton of new, wrapped gifts. The proceeds went toward the group's Christmas party. Hallenbeck was the auctioneer and Janet Austin was the chairman and the runner.

There was also a make-your-own sundae bar, compliments of Stewart's Shops, Broadalbin. The organizer was Donna Chambers, with help from Eleanore Campbell dipping ice cream and Geraldine Collins scooping syrups and Chambers pouring soda.

Chambers, program chairman, noted the program for the Wednesday meeting will be Jaime Rulison, project co-coordinator for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention Partners Promise, who will speak on the subject of medications. If interested in the OFA meal, reservations must be made in advance. All seniors are welcome, as well as anyone who is interested in hearing the speaker, at 12:45 p.m. Guests are asked to bring canned goods for the local food pantry.
