Mr. David L. Mazur, 62, of State Highway 67, Amsterdam, New York, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013.
He was born January 2, 1951, in Amsterdam, New York, a son of the late Louis and Stella Duszynski Mazur. He was a graduate of the former Bishop Scully High School - class of 1969 - and was a lifelong resident.
David spent his entire working history of 42 years at the General Electric Company's Large Steam Turbine Department in Schenectady, New York, before retiring in 2011.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church. He was also a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and the Reid Hill Fish & Game Club.
Mr. Mazur was the ultimate outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting on his land in Schenevus, fishing on the Great Sacandaga Lake and spending the rest of his time tending to his property in the town of Amsterdam.
He is survived by his sons, Christopher D. Mazur of Edgewater, New Jersey, and Jeffrey L. (Mara) Mazur of Totowa, New Jersey; his loving grandchildren, Madison and Makenna Mazur, who knew him as "Papa Bear"; his siblings, John Mazur and his wife, Ginni of Gloversville, New York, Agnes Sanford of Amsterdam, New York, and Robert Mazur and his wife, Eileen, of Scotia, New York; his longtime companion, Debbie Duma of Broadalbin, New York; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013, at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, New York, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, with the Rev. O. Robert De Martinis, celebrant.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reid Hill Fish & Game Club, in care of the funeral home.
