No local workers for job?

August 16, 2013
The Leader Herald

I just read that an out-of-state contractor will be doing the roof on a local public building.

Are you kidding me? They could not find local or regionwide contractors to do the work? I think they should have tried to seek local people and put a little more effort into this.

Make sure they are paying prevailing wages and pay state tax, local tax, proper permits and comply with all the postings requirements.

For anyone who is concerned about proper wages being paid, call the Department of Labor about prevailing wage at 457-5589. The office will give you the Utica office number that covers this area.
