JOHNSTOWN - Members of the British Brigade will visit Johnson Hall State Historic Site on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to play cricket.
Admission to the house and tournament will be free.
The event is co-sponsored by the site and the 24th Regiment of Foot of the British Brigade.
A news release said the British Brigade Inc. is a history organization that demonstrates the military activities and social pastimes of British and American soldiers and their families during the American War of Independence.
Brigade members will play the original version of this 18th century pastime, the release said. Period spectators will watch the event on the sidelines.
There will be no food vendor on site; spectators are encouraged to bring their own picnic lunch. Opportunities will be made available for the public to try their hand at cricket.
Major Paul Novotny will deliver game history and playing instructions at both 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. with matches afterward.
A special match scheduled at 1 p.m. will be played by teams representing the 24th Regiment of Foot and St. John's Episcopal Church.
