Area riders claim wins at Royal

CAROGA LAKE - Five area riders were among those claiming victories during Monster Energy Supercross competition Wednesday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.

Fonda's Tyler Blowers won the mini 80cc 9- to 11-year-old and the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old classes. Blowers also was third in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class.

Gloversville's John Berthiaume Jr. won the plus 30 expert class, while Fort Plain's Zackery Kollar won the 122-250 amateur class.

Broadalbin's Fred Hansen won the quad amateur class, while Amsterdam's Katharine Hoyt won the quad novice class.

In addition to Blowers, Whitesboro's Mitch Daugherty and Cobleskill's Ryan Daly won two different classes Wednesday.

Daugherty won the 122-open expert and 122-250 expert classes, while Daly won the open mini 10- to 16-year-old and 122-250 novice classes.

Other winners included Clifton Park's Gavin Betts (50cc pee wee junior 4-6), Scotia's Chad Forstell (50cc pee wee senior 7-8), Queensbury's Mason St. John-Lemery (mini quad 51-90cc production), Sloansville's Mark Molesky (85cc 12-15), Catskill's Nicholas Schindler (122-open novice), Ravena's Kevin Scarcella (122-open amateur), Queensbury's Tyler Jarvis (quad schoolboy 12-16), Queensbury's Charlie Vrooman (plus 30 amateur) and Edmeston's Tyrick Wheeler (mini 60cc 7-11).

Several area riders posted top-five finishes.

Gloversville's Ronnie Christman was second in the 50cc senior 7- and 8-year-old class, while Johnstown's Bennett Melita was third.

In the mini quad 51-90cc production class, Amsterdam's Matthew Hirschfeld was second, Mayfield's Jordan Miller was third, Caroga Lake's Dalton Nichols was fourth and Johnstown's Jason Morrison Jr. was fifth.

Johnstown's Casey Battisti was second in the 85cc 12- to 15-year-old class, while Gloversville's Schuyler Smith was fifth. Battisti also was second in the open mini 10- to 16-year-old class.

Caroga Lake's Jack Mulyca was fourth in the 122-open novice class, while Johnstown's Adryan Pelosi was third in the 122-open amateur class.

Johnstown's Brandon Handy was second in the junior mini 9- to 11-year-old and second in the mini 60cc 7- to 11-year-old classes.

In the plus 30 amateur class, Amsterdam's Jeremy Tittemore was second and Gloversville's Keith Orr was fourth.

Broadalbin's Colby Watras was fourth in the quad amateur class, while Broadalbin's Jesse Angel was fifth.

In the quad schoolboy 12- to 16-year-old class, Amsterdam's Geoffrey Hoyt was second and Amsterdam's Brandi Hirschfeld was third.

Fonda's John Fonda III was fourth in the mini 60cc 7- to 11-year-old class, while Fonda's Charles Rose was fifth.

In the quad novice class, Fort Plain's Aaron Crouse was second and Broadalbin's Josh Deuel was third.

A total of 128 riders took part in Wednesday's action.
