FORT PLAIN - A U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loan outreach center will open in the village today, a news release said.
Residents and businesses affected by the severe flooding in June and July can apply for low-interest disaster loans, the release said.
Loans of up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property, the release said.
SBA's customer service representatives are available at the centers to answer questions about the program and help people complete their applications, the release said.
A center was scheduled to open today in the village office, 168 Canal St., at 9 a.m.
The center's hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center will be closed Sunday.
The center will be closing Aug. 13 at the close of business, the release said.
