GLOVERSVILLE - A man and woman were charged after they argued over the ownership of kittens and threatened each other with a baseball bat and golf club, city police said.

William Dolder Jr., 53, of 15 Park St., and Brenda M. Bare, 35, of 301 N. Main St., were arrested by city police and charged with third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

Dolder also was charged with third-degree attempted assault.

Police said in late July the two people were involved in an argument about the ownership of kittens. During the argument, police said, Dolder got a baseball bat and threatened a third-party with it. Bare then got a golf club and threatened Dolder with it, police said.

However, police said once the incident was over an ex-girlfriend of Dolders arrived. They argued and Dolder struck the ex-girlfriend, and as a result, was charged with attempted assault, police said.

Dolder was arrested and arraigned in City Court on Friday and released.

Bare was arrested Saturday and released on an appearance ticket.
