Dorothy M. Claire, 83, of Northville died Thursday, August 1, 2013, following a long illness. She was born in Adamsville, NY, on February 26, 1930, the daughter of the late James and Muriel Walsh Patten. She was a graduate of Hartford Central School and a United States Navy Veteran, having served from 1950 to 1952. Dorothy was employed as a custodian for Northville Central School for many years.
Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Northville.
She was predeceased by her husband, Glendon J. (Frenchy) Claire, on May 26, 2005.
Survivors include her children, Keith (Mary) Claire of Staten Island, Craig (Lori) Claire of Spokane, Wash., James (Jacqueline Campbell) Claire of Northville and Denice (Steve Lyons) of Northville. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Patten, Howard Patten, Edward Patten, Ida Dessaint, Mildred Paradis, Elaine Benson, Gladys Flynn and Betty Duel. Several grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her two children, Glen and Wayne Claire, and her siblings, Clifford, James, Raymond, Richard and Kathleen Patten.
Friends may call on Monday, August 5, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville.
