David C. Strauser, 78, of Gloversville, passed away on Sunday morning, July 28, 2013, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady surrounded by his family.
Born on November 5, 1934, in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Raymond James and Garnet (Dutcher) Strauser Sr.
David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force he lived in Ponca City, Olka. before returning to Gloversville in 1964.
Mr. Strauser was owner and operator of Strauser Service Stations. Two were located in Gloversville on South Main Street and Kingsboro Avenue, and he retired from his Fort Plain location.
David had a passion for sports, especially baseball, always rooting for the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed playing and managing in several local softball leagues.
Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his brother, Raymond Strauser; one sister, Marilyn Strauser Chatterton; and a beloved niece, Robin Chatterton.
He is survived by a son, David C. Strauser II of Gloversville; a daughter, Kimberly K. Strauser Goodemote of Gloversville; several grandchildren including David (Cassie) Strauser III of Broadalbin and Carter David Goodemote of Gloversville; two brothers, Ronald Strauser and Richard (Denne) Strausser; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013, at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Burial will follow the funeral at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In keeping with David's wishes there will be no calling hours.
